Change is Good

Writer's picture: Steven AndersonSteven Anderson

There’s a conventional wisdom when it comes to revisiting finished work: Don’t. That’s a tough bit of advice to follow. I’ve edited Wandering Star and Wandering Soul to fix typos and a few other things that made it past my editor and my innumerable readings because no work is every truly finished. At some point, you have to proclaim it good, and turn it loose into the world. It’s best not to look back. There are more than enough new projects waiting for attention. But still… The updated versions are better. They took time away from completing Wandering Free, the final chapter in Mala Dusa’s journey in the Reunification Series. And they delayed the release of the first of the “If These Walls Could Talk” serial that will be coming to Vela in October. But it was worth it. The changes are subtle, but they were worth it to me. Both books are stronger, and I thank the reviewers that pointed out things that I already knew were true. You convinced me to defy conventional wisdom. Always a good thing in my opinion.
